The ninth edition of Women's T20 World Cup is going up today. This year's tournament was supposed to be held in Bangladesh, but considering the recent situation in the country, the tournament was held in the United Arab Emirates.

Bangladesh girls have tasted victory in only one match despite participating in five T20 World Cup events. They were winless in the last four World Cups. In order to end that drought, Bangladesh will face the anointed Scotland in the opening match of the World Cup today (Thursday). Although their capital in batting was small, 119 runs. The bowlers proved enough of that capital to give the Tigresses another World Cup win after 10 years.

In pursuit of Bangladesh's target, the Scottish girls managed to score 103 runs for 7 wickets in the stipulated over. As a result, the red-green representatives started the ninth season of the Women's T20 World Cup with a 16-run victory. This joy could have been doubled for Jyoti-Nahida. Although hosting the World Cup, the tournament was moved from Bangladesh to the United Arab Emirates due to political turmoil.

Earlier, in the 2014 World Cup held at home, the Bangladesh women's team played for the first time and won a match. Which was Tigresses' only win in the short format World Cup. After that, Bangladesh had to wait another 10 years to get the second victory. Nahida Akhter, Marufa Khatun and Ritu Moni's brilliant bowling helped skipper Nigar Sultana Jyoti's milestone match. As the first woman cricketer of Bangladesh, this wicket-keeper batsman played the hundredth T20 match on this day.
