Bangladesh cricket team will tour India this month. The Tigers will play two Tests and a three-match T20 series in this tour. India's Hindu nationalist political party Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha has threatened to attack the T20 series between the two neighboring countries. Not only that, the team threatened to attack later in the Test series.
Soon after, there were rumors that the venue of the second Test might be changed. But the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is ignoring this threat. According to Indian media sources, despite the threat of attacks, India-Bangladesh second Test will be held in Kanpur as per the pre-arranged schedule.
A BCCI official told India Today, 'We are monitoring the situation and are in regular contact with all the authorities concerned. All necessary steps are being taken to organize the matches as per schedule. The stadium is also fully prepared to host the test matches of the two teams.
He also said, 'We are not thinking of moving the match. It will be played in Kanpur. However, we will also keep an eye on the next situation. Apart from Kanpur, another center is also being looked at.
Earlier, the vice-president of the Hindu Mahasabha threatened to attack. Joyveer Bharadwaj told the media, "Hindus are being massacred in Bangladesh... Temples are being destroyed." Still, PM Modi has decided to hold the match here. Hence, the Hindu Mahasabha decided to oppose the India-Bangladesh cricket match in Gwalior. The match should be canceled to maintain peace because otherwise there will be unrest in the country.''
The Bangladesh team will leave the country on September 15 to play two Tests and three T20Is. The first Test of the two-match series will be played in Chennai on September 19. The second Test of the series will begin on September 27 in Kanpur. The three-match T20 will be held on October 6, 9 and 12 respectively.
