The slain rickshaw puller will be given the Series Sera award

Published: 05:03 3 September 2024
Bangladesh has not won a test match against Pakistan at home or anywhere before. Nazmul Hossain Shanto's team made history by winning both matches of the series and whitewashing the hosts. In any case, this may be Bangladesh's biggest achievement in Tests. Mehdi Hasan Miraj won the best player award in this series for his excellent all-round skills.
Winning a series is a different feeling for any cricketer. But at that moment Mehdi Miraj remembered another winner. Who was killed during the anti-discrimination movement in Bangladesh. There has been a change of power in the country based on that movement. Before that, a rickshaw puller was killed during the agitation. Miraj has announced to give the prize money to his family as the best of the series.
The 26-year-old star scored a total of 155 runs in the two Tests of the series. At the same time he took 10 wickets with the ball. Bangladesh won the first test by a big margin of 10 wickets. Miraj took 4 wickets in the second innings making a big contribution to that win. In the second test, he played the role of savior with both bat and ball. In the first innings, this right-handed offspinner took 5 wickets, then when Bangladesh lost 6 wickets for only 26 runs in batting, Liton Das made a record partnership of 165 runs.
It is that pair that pulls Bangladesh out of disaster. His role in Bangladesh's 6-wicket win in the second Test is also the biggest. Liton played an impeccable innings of 134 runs, Mirage who accompanied him also scored 78 runs.
After winning the Series Sera award, Miraj responded by saying, 'I am really happy, this is the first time I have received this award in a series outside the country. Playing as an all-rounder is very tough, I just wanted to increase the strike and enjoyed batting with Mushi (Mushfiqur Rahim) and Liton Das. Certainly happy to get five wickets, but there was an effort to do better. I didn't play in the T20 World Cup, so I got some time to spend at home and even then I'm very thankful for the management's efforts towards me.'
The Tiger all-rounder won a cash prize of 5 lakh Pakistani rupees for being the best in the series. Announcing that the money will be given to the family of the rickshaw puller killed in the anti-discrimination movement, Miraj said, "A rickshaw puller was injured in the students' anti-discrimination movement, and later he died." I will give the money received as a reward to his family.
