A person named Kabir Bhuiyan (49) was killed in a clash between the supporters of Krishak Dal Central Committee General Secretary Shahidul Islam Babul and BNP Central Organizing Secretary (Faridpur Division) Shama Obaid in Nagarkanda of Faridpur. Apart from this, 8/10 people were injured.

The deceased Kabir Bhuiyan is the son of Bashiruddin Bhuiyan, a resident of Chagaldi Mahalla of Nagarkanda Municipality. He is said to be a supporter of Shahidul Islam Babul.

According to some eyewitnesses, Shama Obaid's supporters demolished two pylons built by his supporters in Nagarkanda upazila Sadar after welcoming Shahidul Islam Babul at around 2 o'clock in the morning on Tuesday (August 20). Shama Obaid's supporters chased Jahangir Matubbar, a supporter of Shahidul and the former councilor of ward number two of Nagarkanda municipality. There was tension between the two sides since last night. On Wednesday morning, Shahidul Islam's supporters and Shama Obaid's people stood next to the Junguri bus stand near Nagarkanda Bailey Bridge market. From morning to 12 noon, there was a back and forth chase between the two sides. 8/10 supporters of Shahidul Islam were injured. Later Shama Obaid's men vandalized and looted Zakir Hossain's rice and gas cylinder shop located in Launchghata area of ​​Nagarkanda Bazar, a supporter of Shahidul Islam Babul.

The shopkeepers of the market said that the people of Shama Obaid and Babul have been rehearsing in Nagarkanda market since morning with indigenous weapons including Ramda, Chapati.

It is reported that Shahidul Islam arrived at Talmar Junction area along the Dhaka-Barisal highway around 1:30 pm. There he addressed a street meeting.

In his speech, Shahidul Islam said, I did not fly to Nagarkanda. I became a leader through movement and struggle. BNP is no one's father's party. Awami League has entered into BNP. They are creating chaos in the party. I do systematic politics. Shahidul Islam knows how to give a sharp reply to someone who disturbs him. I work for the people. There is no power that can turn me from my path. I don't care about any conspiracy. If you do politics, do it nicely and peacefully. Don't make a mess.

Locals said that after the fall of the current government, Shama Obaid came to Nagarkanda in an open-top car on August 12 and staged a showdown in the name of peace rally. On that day he carried out his program without any trouble. But today Shahidul Islam's showdown was blocked by his supporters.

BNP's central organizing secretary Shama Obaid could not be contacted as he did not answer the phone when called for a statement in this regard.

Incidentally, Shama Obaid is a resident of Laskardia village of Laskardia union of Nagarkanda upazila. His father is the late general secretary of BNP, KM Obaidur Rahman. Shama Obaid started politics by participating in the parliamentary elections in 2008. On the other hand, Shahidul Islam is a resident of Kona village of Talma Union in Nagarkanda. He has held various important responsibilities including the Acting President of Chhatra Dal. Faridpur-2 parliamentary constituency consists of Nagarkanda and Saltha upazilas. There was a conflict between these two leaders regarding the nomination of BNP in this seat. Today's incident became public.

Nagarkanda Police OC Aminur Rahman told Dhaka Post that Shahidul of the Farmers' Party wanted to hold a meeting but BNP's Shama Obaid group prevented him. The two sides clashed with each other since morning. One person was killed and several were injured. The actual number of injured is not known. We removed both parties by miking.
