Resentment has arisen among grassroots BNP activists in Ashulia, Savar, regarding the shifting political identity of an individual named Ataur Rahman Atal. Local activists allege that Atal was previously involved with Awami League politics and served as an executive committee member of the Bangabandhu Parishad in Shimulia Union, Ashulia.

Grassroots activists claim that following the political upheaval of August 5, Atal has begun identifying himself with BNP politics under the patronage of certain BNP leaders. Allegations also suggest he is attempting to exert influence over factory-related activities—such as the scrap fabric (*jhut*) trade—by leveraging the BNP's name and political identity.

Local BNP activists further allege that Atal was a figure of significant influence during the Awami League's tenure. They claim that during that period, individuals associated with the BNP and local residents were subjected to police harassment, intimidation, and various forms of pressure.

The activists express dissatisfaction that the party is prioritizing individuals who have only recently become active under the BNP banner following the political shift, rather than supporting those who remained active in the party's movements and struggles over the long term and faced lawsuits and attacks.

They allege that certain individuals, long associated with Awami League politics, are using money and influence to cultivate close ties with some BNP leaders following the change of government. Subsequently, these individuals conduct various businesses and activities using the BNP's political identity—a practice that grassroots activists claim tarnishes the party's image.

Grassroots activists emphasize the need to verify who has stood by the BNP for the long haul and who has only recently become active under the party's banner following the political changes. They also insist that organizational action should be taken against anyone engaging in irregularities or pursuing personal interests while using the BNP's name. Grassroots leaders and activists in Ashulia have urged BNP policymakers to investigate the matter, verify Ataur Rahman Atal's political background and activities, and take necessary action against anyone involved in conduct that tarnishes the party's image.
