Jamaat Announces Tk 50 Lakh Grant to Renovate Radda Health Center

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a grant of Tk 50 lakh to renovate the Radda Health Center building—damaged during an attack and looting—and to restore medical services. Upon visiting the facility, the party's Ameer, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, stated that further assistance would be provided to meet the healthcare needs of local residents.

Shafiqur Rahman visited the Radda MCH-FP Center around 4:30 PM on Monday (September 28). After inspecting the damage, he announced the decision to provide this funding on behalf of the party.
Assistance for Renovation and Medical Equipment
Shafiqur Rahman expressed hope that the grant money would enable the renovation of parts of the damaged building and the purchase of necessary equipment. He also pledged to stand by the institution to ensure healthcare services for mothers and children.

The Jamaat Ameer mentioned plans to consult with the health center's six-member board of trustees to determine the next course of action. Assuring continued support, he said, "This is just the beginning; it is not the end."
He noted that Jamaat had condemned the attack and held protest marches immediately after learning of the incident. Mentioning that the local Member of Parliament is currently in Mecca performing Umrah, he said the MP would also stand by the damaged institution upon returning to the country.

Shafiqur Rahman alleged that the ruling party had provided shelter and patronage to those behind the attack on the Radda Health Center. However, he did not cite specific individuals or details of involvement to substantiate this allegation. He demanded that those responsible for the incident be brought to justice.
Demand for Action on Other Attacks
Speaking to journalists, the Jamaat Ameer raised the issue of an attack on the studio of a 'July Fighter' at the ECB Chattar area. He criticized the statements made denying allegations that extortion was the motive behind the visit to the studio.
Shafiqur Rahman argued that even if there were a land dispute, there was no justification for attacking someone's establishment in the dead of night. He asserted that any grievances should be resolved through established legal processes. Citing the government's pledge to bring services to the people, he alleged that doctors, nurses, and ordinary citizens are being subjected to harassment and humiliation in various places. He also criticized the failure to take action against those involved in an attempt to seize a house while brandishing weapons in Mohammadpur.
Shafiqur Rahman urged that no one be spared based on their political affiliation in cases of crime. He stated that law enforcement agencies should take action impartially, even if members of Jamaat are involved.
