BNP has announced a 51-point election manifesto outlining the steps it will take for the welfare of the country and the people if it wins the 13th national elections and gets the opportunity to form a government. The manifesto has been formulated by prioritizing 9 sectors with the intention of building a 'welfare-oriented, prosperous Bangladesh'.
BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman officially announced the manifesto at 3:30 pm on Friday at the ballroom of Hotel Sonargaon in the capital. This is the first election manifesto of BNP under Tarique Rahman's leadership.
The program was presided over by party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. The program was conducted by Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, member secretary of the Central Election Steering Committee. Nazrul Islam Khan, chairman of the Central Election Steering Committee and member of the party's standing committee, delivered the welcome speech.
Earlier, the then Chairperson Khaleda Zia had announced the BNP's election manifesto for the fifth to ninth parliamentary elections. The BNP-led National Unity Front participated in the 11th parliamentary elections in 2018, but since Khaleda Zia was in prison at the time, the party's Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the manifesto.
It is worth noting that the BNP boycotted the 10th and 12th parliamentary elections held under the Sheikh Hasina-led government.
