Abdur Rashid Jitu, Vice President (VP) of the Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU), has joined the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). He formally joined the party on Friday (6 February) in the presence of BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, along with the president and general secretary of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal.
Speaking at the joining ceremony, Abdur Rashid Jitu said he would work under the banner of the BNP to build a beautiful and democratic Bangladesh. Welcoming him, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that Jitu, along with several elected representatives from various hall student unions of Jahangirnagar University, had joined the BNP and its student wing, adding that the party warmly welcomed them all.
It is worth noting that in the recent JUCSU election, Abdur Rashid Jitu was elected as Vice President as a candidate of the Independent Students’ Alliance panel. Although candidates backed by Islami Chhatra Shibir won 20 out of 25 posts in the election, Jitu drew significant attention by securing victory in the top post.
