Dialogue is the main strength of democracy despite differences of opinion: Jaima Rahman in her first speech on the country's soil
Despite differences of opinion, discussing and speaking together is an integral part of democracy, said Barrister Jaima Rahman, granddaughter of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and daughter of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
She said this at a discussion titled 'Women in Nation Building: Policy, Prospects and the Future of Bangladesh' held at the Krishibid Institute in Khamarbari in the capital on Sunday (January 18) afternoon. This was her first official speech on the country's soil.
At the beginning of her speech on the meeting, Jaima Rahman said that she felt a different feeling as she was able to speak on the country's soil for the first time. She recalled the contribution of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia in the development of women in the country.
She also said that she does not claim to have the solution to all problems. However, she has come forward out of her desire to do something for the country according to her ability.
In the final part of his speech, he reiterated that continuing dialogue and discussion, despite differences of opinion, is the foundation of a healthy and effective democracy.
