The District Returning Officer has declared the nomination of Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Mufti Amir Hamza valid in Kushtia-3 constituency. The announcement was made after the scrutiny of the nomination papers in the meeting room of the Kushtia District Commissioner on Sunday (January 4) afternoon.
In response to the declaration of the nomination papers as valid, Mufti Amir Hamza said, “Alhamdulillah, my nomination papers have been declared valid. I am once again grateful. Today’s scrutiny was completed in a very beautiful atmosphere.”
He said, “A level playing field is needed in the election, which has not yet been confirmed. What I want in my mind has not yet happened. Since what will happen after the 22nd is not yet known. However, I hope that these issues will be resolved after the 22nd.”
Amir Hamza also said, “The picture that is being seen from different places shows that the situation is not yet as per our expectations. However, if the instructions given by the Election Commission are followed properly and all the candidates and their party leaders and activists comply with them, then we hope that a fair election will be held.”
Regarding the fears about the election, he said, “We are still in a state of panic due to the burning of our Sadar Police Station and the looting of weapons. Where the looted weapons are now—we have not recovered them yet. They are repeatedly saying that work is underway, but there is no visible progress.”
He also said, “These weapons must be recovered quickly and arms and other illegal activities across the border must be stopped. Otherwise, a fair election will not be possible.”
