Masud Withdraws from Narayanganj-5 Polls Citing Family and Security Concerns

BNP-nominated candidate Masuduzzaman Masud has withdrawn from the upcoming national parliamentary elections for Narayanganj-5, citing multiple family and personal security reasons.

He made the announcement during a press briefing at the Narayanganj Press Club on Tuesday afternoon. The sudden decision surprised both journalists and his supporters present at the event.

Masuduzzaman Masud stated, “Several personal and security-related issues, including family considerations, have compelled me to step back from this election. I cannot disclose all details publicly, and I sincerely apologize to my party workers and the residents of Bandar Upazila.”

He further added, “I will extend my full support to whoever contests the election in this constituency.”

Responding to several questions from journalists, Masud emphasized that the decision was entirely personal. He expressed concerns about his family’s safety and noted that no agreement could be reached with his family regarding participation in the election.

Masud clarified that his withdrawal was not due to government security lapses or any changes in party nomination. He said, “This is not because the government cannot provide me security, nor is it related to any alteration in party nomination. It is purely a personal decision to step aside from the election.”
