Juba League leader Mithun Dhali has threatened to kill Shariatpur's Jajira Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mainul Islam and the government's chief advisor Dr. Mohammad Yunus. A general diary (GD) has been filed at the police station in this incident.
According to police sources, Mithun Dhali, who is involved in banned activities, recently held a secret meeting with some Awami League workers in Jajira Upazila. On September 28, on the occasion of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's birthday, a procession-rehearsal and tree plantation program were held after that meeting.
Then, on September 29, after receiving information, the police, led by Additional Superintendent of Police (Naria Circle) Dr. Ashiq Mahmud, conducted a raid at Firoz Khan's house in Kunderchar Union. At that time, the Awami League workers tried to attack the police but later escaped. The police filed an anti-terrorism case on charges of anti-state activities in this incident, in which 65 people, including Mithun Dhali, were accused.
Angered by the case, Mithun Dhali called OC Mainul Islam and Chief Advisor Dr. Mohammad Yunus from a foreign number on Friday afternoon (October 3) and threatened to kill them. He has also been accused of spreading provocative information on social media.
In this regard, OC Mainul Islam said, “Mithun Dhali is trying to create an unstable environment by holding secret meetings with banned Awami workers in the area. He has threatened to kill me and the government advisor. A GD has been filed at the police station in this incident. Those involved in Awami terrorist activities will be brought to justice soon.”
