Since then, the party is holding a coordination meeting with the thana-ward activists and party representatives to restore unity in the party. However, this coordination meeting also saw chaos and commotion.
They expressed their anger over the non-existence of Thana-Ward Committee of Dhaka Metropolitan Awami League, lack of coordination within the party, undervaluation of the sacrificed workers and many top leaders, members of parliament and beneficiaries of the party in the quota movement were not in the field.
A coordination meeting of the party was called for the third day at the Dhaka district Awami League office in Tejgaon of the capital on Thursday. As part of the series of programs, apart from the top leaders of the central and city, parliament-members and police-ward leaders of Dhaka-11, Dhaka-14, Dhaka-15, Dhaka-16 constituencies were also present.
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obadul Quader gave the opening speech at the beginning of the meeting. Then the closed door discussion started. At the beginning of the meeting Amir Uddin, president of one of the North Wards spoke. In his speech, he demanded to be in the field under the guidance of local parliament member Kamal Ahmed Majumdar in Mirpur-10 area. Immediately after his speech, the leaders and activists present started a ruckus.
They claimed that Kamal Ahmed Majumdar and none of his followers were in that area. At that time, the President-General Secretary of the Metropolitan North Awami League failed to bring the situation under control despite repeated attempts. Later, the situation came under control with the intervention of Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nashim.
Then Kafrul Thana Awami League President Jamal Mostafa started his speech. He said that the lack of coordination is responsible for this situation in the party today. There is no coordination between party leaders and workers. The root of this problem is the lack of committee at the police station-ward level. If there was a committee, there would not have been such a problem.
Addressing Obaidul Quader, he said, you are the general secretary of the party. You give Thana-Ward Committee of the city. Such a situation will not happen if there is a committee. At this time North Awami League general secretary SM Mannan Kochi stopped him. He said, how to control the current situation? Everyone will talk about those things. No one will talk about the formation of the committee here.
Awami League President Ashiqul Islam Ashiq, Ward No. 2 of Pallabi Police Station, said, "We have no choice but to unite." But in reality there is no unity among us. One does not listen to another leader. He addressed the central leaders of the party and said that everyone in the party should listen to everyone. That should be arranged. Then the team will turn around.
6th Ward Councilor Taizuddin Bappi in his speech told everyone to work unitedly to identify the BNP-Jamaat leaders involved in the movement.
General Secretary of Pallabi Thana Awami League claimed that the party's leaders and workers from all levels were in the field in their area. In response to his statement, the leaders and activists present became angry. They protested the statement and demanded its withdrawal. Some keep saying you were not in the field yourself. At this time, fake slogans can be heard directed at him.
At this stage too the situation goes out of control. Awami League organizing secretary Mirza Azam took the microphone to control the environment. He requested everyone to keep quiet and said, we have understood where the party's problem lies. We will not listen to anyone else's speech in this environment. If necessary, each police station-ward will be held separately. No one else was given the opportunity to speak after that.
Later, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader declared the meeting closed. He said, who were you in the field? And who was not in the field? We have all the information. You will be sitting at home from the position of the party? Hide yourself in the bad times of the party? It can't be. List of those who were not in the field. No one will be exempted. Action will be taken based on the list.
