The Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami said that the 'so-called friend' has arranged to drown the people of Bangladesh. Shafiqur Rahman. He said, "We have been hearing that neighboring country India is our biggest friend. But this so-called friend dries us up when we need water, and when the rainy season comes, it releases water and floods us.”
He said this while distributing relief to the displaced people in various flood affected areas of Feni, Noakhali and Laxmipur districts on Thursday (August 22).
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, "India has turned a large area of Bangladesh into a desert by damming 54 rivers including Farakka." India withholds water during the dry season, and opens all the gates at night during the monsoon season. When we need water in summer, they kill us without water. Thousands of acres of land lost crops due to lack of water. Again in the monsoon season when water is not needed, the water is released and floods us. We are shocked by this inhuman act of Indian government. Naturally, the question arises in our mind, how is India our friend!”
He said, "12 districts of the eastern region have experienced severe floods in memory. Due to the opening of the Dumbur Dam in the Indian state of Tripura, flooding has taken a dire form in these areas. Everything including houses, roads, educational institutions in these areas has been submerged in flood water. Half a million people are trapped in water. Fish enclosures, field crops, rice mills, orchards were submerged in water. Millions of people are living a subhuman life in such conditions.” At this time, Ameer called upon the people of all classes and professions of the society to come forward to help the flood victims and at the end of his speech, he prayed to Allah Almighty to save him from all kinds of calamities.
Central Assistant Secretary General Maulana ATM Machum, District Ameer AKM Shamsuddin, District Secretary Mufti Abdul Hannan and other leaders and activists of all levels of the district and sub-district were present at the relief distribution ceremony in Feni district. Besides, Central Leader Deen Mohammad, Assistant Secretary General Maulana ATM Machum, District Jamaat Ameer Ruhul Amin Bhuiyan and many others were present at the relief distribution ceremony in Lakshmipur.
