BNP leader Zainul Abdin at the police station to file a case after 13 years of torture

After the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government and her departure, BNP leader Zainul Abdin Farooq appeared at the Sher Bangla Nagar police station to file a case against these two officials and the responsible policemen.

Note that on the morning of July 6, 2011, 15-20 MPs of the opposition party led by Zainal Abdin Farooq gathered in front of Manik Mia Avenue. They walked from Sangsad Bhavan area to Farmgate area in the early morning. Later, from the farmgate, they again took Manik and returned to the avenue. At this time, stones were thrown at a bus.
Later, the then Deputy Commissioner of Police Tejgaon Division DC Imam Hossain, Assistant Deputy Commissioner Harun Or Rashid and Mohammadpur Region Assistant Commissioner Biplab Kumar Sarkar went in front of the MPs and tried to stop them.
At that time Zainal Abdin Farooq had an argument with the police. At one point, the police turned towards Zainal Abdin Farooq. A scuffle ensued when several other policemen advanced towards him and he fell to the ground. A few policemen kicked him and dragged him to the hatches. At this time Farooq's Genji opened. At one point, a policeman hit his head with a stick.
Seeing the blood on Farooq's head, the women MPs tried to take him towards NAM Bhavan. At that time, when the police came again, Zainal Abedin ran towards the NAM building in self-defense. The police also followed him and went there again and attacked him. When the police tried to take Zainal Abdin Farooq to the car by swinging him, he fell unconscious on the road.
After that Farooq was rescued and taken to NAM Bhawan residence of woman MP Papia Ashrafia. He was taken to Gulshan United Hospital by ambulance after a few hours around 10 am.
After filing a case against the police in connection with the attack on the opposition chief whip of the National Parliament of Bangladesh Zainul Abdin Farooq, the court ordered to take legal action in this regard.

BNP Member of Parliament Ashrafuddin Nijan filed the case for beating and attempted murder of Farooq. Earlier, a police station in Dhaka refused to take the case.
On July 10, 2011, about thirty members of the police have been accused in the case filed in the court of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka. Among them, the main accused were two senior officials Haroon Or Rashid and Biplab Kumar Sarkar.
