Shop employee Mobin (17) lost sight in both eyes and hearing in one ear after being shot by the police while participating in the anti-discrimination student movement. His father died about five months ago leaving behind a disabled brother. Joining the march of students from Uttara, Dhaka, now he has also lost his sight and hearing.
However, the doctor said that if 3 to 4 lakh taka, Mobin will regain his sight and hearing. Responding to the needs of the country, Mobin has asked for help from the countrymen who have become helpless today.
On Saturday (August 17), Shariatpur's Damudya Upazila's Damudya Upazila's Sidhalkura Union's Sidhalkura village No. 5 went to Bara Sidhalkura village and spoke to Mobin's family.
According to family and local sources, Mobin's father Mofazzal Hossain Mal died about 5 months ago leaving three sons including a disabled son Julhas. After that, when Mobin's mother Najma Begum was desperate to feed her children, on the advice of the locals and relatives, Nazmul Huda Palash, the eldest son, got a job as a driver and Mobin, the younger son, got a job in a computer shop in Dhaka's Uttara. The family of disabled brother Julhas, mother Najma Begum, Palash and Mobin was going well. Last July 18, like every day, Latif Emperium's Md. in plot number 27, road number 2, sector number 3, next to Rajlakshmi, Uttara, Dhaka, Mobin capital. Wasim goes to Talukdar's computer shop for work. But the anti-discrimination student movement peaked at that time. Forgetting everything including the family retreat, Mobin closed the shop and joined the procession. Then when the procession went towards Uttara police station, the police opened fire from inside the police station. At one point a bullet entered above Mobin's left ear and exited above his right ear. Besides, his head and eyes were injured by police bullets. Mobin's marching companions then took him to the hospital. The family members took him to Dhaka Medical College for treatment, but Mobin's head is still bleeding. He is now staying at home as he cannot go to the hospital due to lack of money.
Morenews spoke to Mobin, who has lost sight in both eyes and hearing in one ear. Seventeen-year-old Kishore Mobin says, like every day on July 18 morning, I went to the shop for work. Shortly after entering the shop, the quota reform movement marched out. Then I closed the shop and joined the procession with the students. When the procession went in front of the Uttara police station, the police started shooting at the procession from the police station. My ears and eyes were damaged by police firing. After that the companions of the procession took me first to Kuwait Maitri Hospital. From there I was taken to Dhaka Medical Hospital through Eye Science Hospital. I want the support of the countrymen including the agitating people to regain my hearing power along with my eyes sight. Otherwise my mother will be in a lot of danger with my younger brother and me.
Mobin's elder brother Nazmul Huda Palash drives a car owned by his father after his father's death. His monthly salary is 15 thousand rupees. Regarding Mobin, he told Dhaka Post, I was at home on the day of the incident. Around 11 am I received a call on my mobile from an unknown number. Wants to know, I am the elder brother of Mobin or not? When I told him yes, he told me to come to Suhrawardy Hospital quickly. Your brother Mobin is injured in police firing and is in hospital. Then I rushed to the hospital and found Mobin. I took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on doctor's advice. We were able to spend more than 1 lakh 20 thousand rupees for Mobin's treatment. Now there is nothing but soil in the house. My brother will be disabled if he does not regain his vision along with his hearing. If one brother is already disabled and Mobin is not healthy, both of them will become a burden to the family. Doctor said if 3 to 4 lakh taka, my brother will recover completely. We seek cooperation from the agitators, countrymen and the government. All of you come forward for my brother.
Mobin's mother Najma Begum said, what did God do to me four and a half months after Mobin's father died? I have a disabled son. I have to suffer with that one boy. Now again due to agitation, my son has lost the power of eyes and ears. Where do I go now with two disabled sons? If the countrymen had helped me to treat my son, I would have survived.
A local named Delwar Hossain Howladar said that Mobin's father died a few months ago leaving behind a disabled son. Now Mobin's condition is pathetic. If not treated properly, two persons in the family will be handicapped. A call to the countrymen, everyone should come forward.
