Suspecting that they had come to Dhanmondi number 32 to pay homage to the portrait of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the agitators detained 50 people till 11 am and handed them over to the law enforcement agencies. Many of them were handcuffed.

Abdur Razzak, the private university coordinator of anti-discrimination student movement, gave this information at around 11 o'clock on Thursday (August 15).
He said, we have checked and arrested those from whom we found flowers, banner festoons and weapons. Many of them have already been handed over to the law enforcement agencies. The rest have been placed in New Model School. Law enforcement forces will actually be handed over to them as well.

Dhanmondi was checking the identity cards, bags and mobile phones of people coming to the road number 32 to see if they were leaders and workers of Awami League and other organizations. Those who were suspected were arrested and tied with ropes. Many of them were beaten up by the agitators. When they went to take pictures of the beating, they also attacked the journalists. At this time, no significant person from Awami League or affiliated organizations was seen.

Earlier, on the occasion of National Mourning Day on August 15, Dhanmondi started coming separately from 7 am to pay respects at Bangabandhu's portrait on road number 32. However, none of them could go inside due to the obstruction of the protesters.
Police and army personnel were seen patrolling several times in Dhanmondi area number 32, but no member was seen taking position. Around 10:30 a.m. a team of 30-40 policemen was seen stationed on the side of Dhanmondi road number 32. Meanwhile, almost all the agitators have taken their stand with batons
