MK Bashar, chairman of BSB Global Network, has disappeared with Tk 30 crore from more than two hundred students in the name of sending them to Canada. The defrauded students protested by besieging the institution's office at Gulshan in the capital on Monday, August 12 from morning to night.
The victimized students handed over Chairman Bashar's wife and BSB Global Vice-Chairman Selina Roshan, GM Abu Zahid and Cashier Mahbub Hossain to the army officers on duty at Gulshan police station area at night. At the same time, they soon gave the company an ultimatum to return the money. It is said that on Tuesday and August 13, they will protest at the BSB office and go to Gulshan police station.
Mehdi Hasan, the representative of the defrauded students, said that for the past two years, BSB Global has collected money by saying that it would be sent to Canada. They collect money from students for admission and tuition fees in various universities in Canada. Many have deposited money for his family members as well. Some gave 12 lakhs, some 15 lakhs. They are all in trouble now.
A victim named Salim Reza told More News, "I deposited Tk 12 lakh for my wife. Last year they could not send BSB my wife abroad even after giving money. Again not returning the money. So far they have been threatening the opposite. He also threatened to discipline BCL-Awami League leaders if they talked too much. Now that the situation has changed, we all have courage. Hopefully, we will get our money back with the intervention of the administration.
