The newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) with Chief of Army Staff General Walker-uz-Zaman. Moinul Islam, RAB Director General AKM Shahidur Rahman and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md. Mainul Hasan had a meeting. Chiefs of Navy and Air Force were present in this meeting at the army headquarters on Thursday.
In that meeting of the chiefs of all the forces, it was decided to take a strong stand by the armed forces and other law enforcement forces to stop the anarchy, arson and destructive activities going on across the country.
This information was conveyed in a short message sent by the Directorate of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in the afternoon. It is said that the army chiefs decided to keep the armed forces and other law enforcement agencies in a strong position to maintain stability in the country by stopping the ongoing anarchy, arson and destructive activities.
Sheikh Hasina left the country after resigning from the post of Prime Minister last Monday in the face of student protests. Since then, attacks, vandalism and arson have been happening in different parts of the country. Apart from Awami League leaders and workers, various police stations and minority communities have been attacked. Apart from this, there has been panic among the city residents due to robberies at various places in Dhaka at night.
After the fall of the government, the policemen also refrained from performing their duties due to the attacks on various police stations. Among them, as the new Inspector General of Police. Moinul Islam has asked the policemen to join their respective workplaces by Thursday evening after being appointed.
In this meeting of the army chief and other army chiefs, it was also discussed about starting the operations of all the police stations in the country with the help of the army within the next 24 hours, according to the ISPR press release.
