9 demands of NBR employees including dismissal of the chairman

Published: 01:05 7 August 2024
The current chairman is Abu Hena. Rahmatul Munim and First Secretary (Tax Administration). The employees of the National Board of Revenue have made 9-point demands, including the dismissal of opportunistic officials at various levels, including Shahiduzzaman, and not being sent from the administration cadre.
In a press release on Wednesday (August 7), all anti-discrimination employees in grades 10-20 made these demands to the President.
In this regard, an NBR employee told Dhaka Post that our 9-point demand must be fulfilled immediately. Otherwise, all anti-discrimination employees of the National Board of Revenue will be given a tough program ranging from protest rallies, work stoppages, pen breaks, non-compliance with protocols.
The employees say that at this time of crisis in the country, we anti-discrimination employees are trying hard to collect revenue from the main treasury and revenue store of the state with our best efforts, hard work and efforts. We the employees are the lifeblood and strong arm of the Board of Revenue. But sadly, it is true that the current chairman of NBR, Abu Hena, is a close companion of the dictator. Rahmatul Munim and First Secretary (Tax Administration). Shahiduzzaman and other levels of opportunistic and virtually dictatorial officials have terrorized us to the extreme over the years and established a reign of terror of arbitrariness in areas such as recruitment irregularities, transfer trade, promotion trade, promotion trade and retirement benefits. They have been fulfilling their own selfish interests for years. Our employees have their backs against the wall. NBR employees appealed to the National Board of Revenue to consider the demands to save the country.
The demands are
1. No officer from the administration cadre can be posted to the National Board of Revenue.
2. Abu Hena, the current chairman of the National Board of Revenue, a close companion of the dictator. Rahmatul Munim should be removed from the post immediately and appointed Chairman from Income Tax/Customs, Excise and VAT cadre.
3. Immediately the autocratic chairman's friend and favorite first secretary (tax administration). Shahiduzzaman should be dismissed from his post and posted as tax cadre officer.
4. After two years transfer trade should be discontinued in line with Income Tax Act-2023 and transfer should be revenue friendly and applicability as in the past for the purpose of income tax collection.
5. Illegal recruitment must be stopped immediately and recruitment cannot be done through outsourcing.
6. All employees shall be posted in accordance with the seniority rules and laws made for employees.
7. All vacant posts in Income Tax Division 10th-20th grade shall be promoted and all posts shall be promoteable, no posts shall be blocked.
8. Decisions related to the interests of the employees shall be taken in consultation with the respective associations of the employees, otherwise no decision shall be accepted.
9. Finally, only the officers/employees of the Income Tax Department will take the decision on all matters related to the Income Tax Department.
