Sheikh Hasina's resignation: Attack, vandalism on police headquarters along with 20 police stations

Attacks, vandalism, arson and looting occurred in 13 police stations in the capital Dhaka and 7 police stations outside Dhaka, including the police headquarters. Apart from this, Satkhira and Sherpur district jails were attacked. These attacks happened yesterday Monday throughout the day. However, it was not confirmed how many people were injured and how much damage was done in these incidents.
An official of the police headquarters said that the agitators broke the main gate of the police headquarters yesterday evening and vandalized. Many officers of the police headquarters were trapped in the office at that time. Later, when the situation improved, they climbed the eastern wall and went inside the city building. Then get out of there and go to any destination.
According to the police, fire service and eyewitness sources, protesters set fire to Mirpur and Mohammadpur police stations in the capital last night. Pallabi police station was attacked and vandalized. The protestors are chasing each other with the police in Uttara Purba Thana area till 8:30 pm. Bhatara police station building was set on fire around 4:30 pm. Attacks were reported in Badda, Jatrabari, Wari and Rupnagar police stations.
According to police sources, protesters surrounded Mirpur Model Police Station yesterday afternoon. Attempts were made to disperse the protesters by firing rubber bullets and tear gas shells from the police station. Mohammadpur police station was set on fire at night.
The fire service said that the Bhatara police station building was set on fire around 4:30 pm.
An officer of the rank of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADC) said that the protestors attacked and vandalized the Jatrabari police station yesterday afternoon. At one stage they entered the police station and beat the policemen. Some policemen were injured. However, ADC could not confirm the number of casualties in Jatrabari police station.
According to a police source, hundreds of thousands of protesters have surrounded the Badda police station. There was a back and forth chase till 10:30 pm. At least 70 members of the police are trapped in Badda police station.
Eyewitnesses said that the protestors started protesting at Merul Badda area around 11 o'clock yesterday. Then a group of policemen from Badda police station came to the road and tried to disperse them by firing rubber bullets and tear gas shells.
Eyewitnesses said that thousands of people took to the streets after two o'clock. When the procession reached Merul Badda area, the police tried to disperse them. The chase began.
Witnesses also said that at least 10 people were injured by the rubber bullets fired by the police. At one stage around four in the afternoon, the protesters surrounded the Badda police station from all sides. The protesters surrounded the police station till 10:30 pm. At one point, some students asked the policemen to surrender through the microphone of the mosque. If the police surrender and stop firing, the students will leave the streets. Still the gunshots are heard. Later, around 8:30 pm, the army went to Badda police station and tried to rescue the policemen. But they returned without rescue.
In the evening, the policemen of Paltan police station ran away after being attacked by the protestors. Police said that later the protesters ransacked the police station. The inspector of the police station confirmed the matter. Around 9:30 pm, protesters entered the Shah Ali police station in Mirpur and set it on fire. Police claimed that they looted weapons there.
Agitators attacked Khilgaon police station in the evening. The miscreants looted the police station.
Around five in the afternoon, the protesters ransacked the Adabar police station. At that time, the police went to the roof of another building and took shelter.
Protesters are being chased and clashed with the police of Uttara Purba police station. Apart from this, Tongi East police station has been surrounded by protesters.
Attack on 7 police stations outside Dhaka
Attacks took place in Daudkandi Model Police Station and Titas Police Station in Comilla, Sonaimuri and Chatkhil Police Station in Noakhali, Bogra Sadar Police Station, Bhairab Police Station in Kishoreganj, Brahmanbaria Sadar Police Station. Apart from this, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Headquarters and Narayanganj Police Lines were also attacked.
Prison attack
Prothom Alo Satkhira's own reporter said that around 6:30 in the evening, the angry crowd attacked the Satkhira District Jail. The attackers broke the gates and internal locks of the jail and took out most of the convicts and inmates. He also looted things. However, it is not known how many accused and prisoners have been taken out.
Representative, Sherpur said, yesterday afternoon angry students vandalized the district jail and set it on fire. All the prisoners in the jail have escaped. Weapons and materials in the prison were looted.
