The army chief will address the nation at 4:30 pm instead of 3 pm

Bangladesh Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman was scheduled to address the public at 2 pm on Monday (August 5). Later it was postponed to 3 pm today. Then again the speech time was fixed at 4:30 PM instead of 3:00 PM. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) informed the media.
The ISPR said the public was asked to refrain from violence and remain patient until the army chief made a statement. The army chief requested this.
Meanwhile, the three-day general holiday announced by the Ministry of Public Administration is going on from today. At the same time, curfew has been in effect for an indefinite period across the country since 6 pm yesterday.
And yesterday, at least 97 people were killed in the violence surrounding the non-cooperation program of the anti-discrimination student movement across the country. Among them there are 14 policemen.
Hundreds of people were injured. Apart from this, incidents of attack, vandalism and arson have occurred in various establishments.
