Malaysian PM congratulates Tarique Rahman

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has congratulated the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its chairman Tarique Rahman for their big victory in the 13th parliamentary elections. He also expressed gratitude to Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus for taking the democratic process forward smoothly.
In a post on social media Facebook on Friday (February 13), he wrote, “I sincerely congratulate Tarique Rahman and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party for their big electoral victory. This is a victory for democracy. The people of Bangladesh have spoken their minds at the ballot box during a difficult challenge.”
He also wrote, “I would also like to express my gratitude to my dear friend Professor Muhammad Yunus for serving as Chief Advisor during this important transition and ensuring the smooth progress of the democratic process.”
Anwar Ibrahim said, “Malaysia looks forward to working with the new leadership to bring new vitality to our bilateral relations.”
