Tarique Rahman wins Bogra-6 constituency by a huge margin

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has been unofficially elected from Bogra-6 constituency by a huge margin in the 13th National Parliament election. The returning officer and Bogra Deputy Commissioner Taufiqur Rahman officially announced the results at around 11:30 pm on Thursday.
In the results of all 150 centers of this constituency, which consists of 21 wards of Bogra Municipality and Sadar Upazila, Tarique Rahman received 216,284 votes under the paddy sheaf symbol. His closest rival, the candidate of the 11-party alliance led by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Amir of Jamaat's Bogra city branch, Abidur Rahman, received 97,626 votes under the scale symbol.
The total number of voters in this constituency was 454,043. Out of these, 71.3 percent voters exercised their franchise.
It is worth noting that the late BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia was elected from this seat from 1996 to 2008.
Referendum Results:
A total of 295,782 votes were cast in the referendum held in the same seat. Of these, 215,579 voted 'yes' and 80,203 voted 'no'.
