BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia's treatment has taken a new dimension. A four-member expert medical team from the UK arrived in Dhaka on Wednesday and joined Evercare Hospital to assess her advanced treatment and formulate a plan.
Led by renowned UK physician Dr. Richard Beul, the team entered Khaleda Zia's room in the fourth-floor CCU of Evercare Hospital before noon and closely monitored her current physical condition. Later, they held their first round of discussions with the local medical board.
Hospital sources said that the foreign team will prepare an advanced treatment plan in light of Khaleda Zia's long-term complex physical condition. Their main tasks will be to analyze the patient's overall condition, provide advice on necessary treatment changes or additions, and monitor the treatment progress in coordination with local doctors.
BNP leaders said they are hopeful that the participation of international experts will play a positive role in Khaleda Zia's treatment.
It is worth noting that Richard Billy, the head of the team from the UK, arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 10:30 am today.
On the night of November 23, he was brought to Evercare Hospital from his Gulshan residence Firoza due to routine health check-ups and complex physical problems. Later, he was admitted on the decision of the medical board. After that, his physical condition gradually deteriorated.
For a long time, Begum Khaleda Zia has been suffering from arthritis, diabetes, kidney complications, lung problems and various visual complications, due to which the need for an international expert team was felt for her treatment.
It is also known that stricter surveillance is being maintained in Evercare Hospital along with increased security in the treatment.
