At the ‘NRB Connect Day: Empowering Global Bangladeshis’ event held in New York on Saturday (September 27), BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that after listening to Dr. Muhammad Yunus’ speech, he felt like he was listening to the words of martyred President Ziaur Rahman.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “After listening to Dr. Yunus’ speech at the business forum meeting, I repeatedly felt like I was listening to the words of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, the proclaimer of this country’s independence. We heard the echo of that dream in Dr. Yunus’ voice.”
He called for unity among the people of Bangladesh and said, “The people of Bangladesh know how to fight in any difficult time. The July Uprising is proof of that.”
Mirza Fakhrul also said that BNP is cooperating with the work of the reform commissions formed by the interim government and said, “I want to make it clear to everyone – BNP will do only that work that benefits Bangladesh and the people of the country.”
The Secretary General said, “The young generation of the country thinks in a modern way and BNP has the mentality to adopt their modern thinking.” He expressed hope that the youth will play an important role in shaping the future of Bangladesh.
