NSI officers Badrul, Palash were agents of India's "RAW"

Three officers of the national intelligence agency National Security Intelligence (NSI) have fled abroad. Two of them worked as agents of the Indian intelligence agency 'RAW' and stole important documents of the agency, reliable sources said. The fugitive officers are Joint Director Badrul Ahmed (Electricity), Deputy Director Aminul Haque Palash and Assistant Director Tanvir Hossain Khandaker. They fled from the Dubai Consulate, Kolkata Mission and Dhaka. Aminul Haque Palash fled to London from India using an alternative passport and got a British visa, but the whereabouts of the other two officers have not been confirmed yet.

According to reliable sources, Aminul Haque Palash was known as the main architect of the case against Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus on the orders of the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Despite having a diplomatic passport, he obtained a British visa using an illegal green passport and has currently applied for political asylum in London. The fugitive Badrul Ahmed is also alleged to have worked for RAW. He was involved in the 2018 night vote and the 2024 election rigging. In addition, former NSI Director General TM Jobayer is also alleged to have been involved in money laundering abroad. On the other hand, Assistant Director Tanvir Hossain Khandaker got a job in NSI with a fake certificate. His father, former RAB Director General M Khurshid Hossain, is also currently absconding. Tanvir is accused of removing important documents of the organization.

NSI authorities said that the fact that the three officers escaped is true and an investigation is underway against them. The British intelligence agency MI-6 has already been informed about the absconding Aminul Haque Palash. The organization has informed that the files have been sent to the office of the chief advisor for the political and disciplinary activities of these officials.

There are allegations against Aminul Haque Palash that he has framed one case after another against Dr. Yunus and has adopted various tactics to harass him. The purpose of these cases was to tarnish Dr. Yunus's reputation in the international arena. 168 cases were filed against this Nobel laureate economist, most of which were in the labor court. During this time, incidents of harassment such as turning off electricity, banning the use of elevators, and forcing him to use stairs abnormally have also occurred in the court.

There are also various allegations against Tanvir Hossain, the assistant director of NSI. During his training, he violated discipline several times and was accused of drug use. Investigations proved that his master's certificate was fake. Despite failing the training, he remained in the job, but absconded in October 2024.

Dr. Muhammad Yunus's lawyers said that Sheikh Hasina had implicated him in the case to satisfy personal vendetta. Many countries, international organizations and prominent personalities protested in this regard, but the then government ignored them. Dr. Yunus was subjected to various humiliating situations, from being made to stand in a cage to being subjected to unusual harassment in court.

The NSI said that the current authorities are trying to restore the image of the organization and strict action is being taken against all kinds of irregularities and illegal activities. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the absconding officials and steps have been taken to conclude the investigation expeditiously in the interest of national security.
