Foreign woman arrested with cocaine worth Tk 130 crore at Shahjalal

The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department has arrested a foreign woman passenger with cocaine worth Tk 130 crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital. She was arrested with the drugs from a Qatar Airways flight arriving from Doha at around 2:30 am on Monday (August 25).
Sonia Akhter, Deputy Director of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department, confirmed this information.
According to Customs Intelligence sources, Qatar Airlines flight QR638 from Doha to Dhaka landed at Shahjalal International Airport at 2:30 am. After landing, the detectives identified MS Karen Petula Staffol, a passenger in seat 30A of the flight. After completing immigration, she was brought to the green channel along with her baggage and scanned and searched.
During the search, 22 pieces of oval-shaped foil-wrapped cocaine were recovered from three plastic jars in his luggage. The seized cocaine weighs 8.66 kg, with an estimated market value of around Tk 130 crore.
A criminal case under the Smuggling and Narcotics Control Act and a departmental case under the Customs Act are being filed in this incident.
