The campaign will continue across the country till the upcoming national elections, said Home Affairs Advisor Lt. Gen. (retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury. He said this while talking to reporters after the meeting of the core committee on law and order on Monday (August 4) afternoon.
He said, “We have lost many weapons. This campaign is going on to recover these weapons and it will continue till the election.”
Asked whether there was any panic in the public mind around August 5, the advisor said, “There was panic among the people about August 3 as well. By the grace of God, nothing happened. Since the current government took power, the law and order situation has improved and is in a much better position than before.”
However, he commented that the situation has not yet reached the desired level. The advisor said, “Although the law and order situation has improved, we have not reached the level we want. However, whether there has been improvement or not, only the public can properly evaluate it.”
When asked whether the alert was in place, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, "Alertness is always there, we are always on alert."
