Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus will announce the date of the national election in the next four-five days. The leaders of the alliance made this announcement after a meeting with leaders of 14 parties and various political alliances at the Chief Advisor's official residence Jamuna on Saturday (July 26) afternoon. They said that elections are the only way to resolve the country's political unrest - this is what emerged from the Chief Advisor's statement.
After the meeting, 12-party alliance coordinator and Jatiya Party (Kazi Zafar) Chairman Mustafa Zaman Haider said, "I would like to announce with joy that the Chief Advisor has clearly told us that he will present a specific deadline or date for the election to the nation within the next four-five days. There could be no happier news than this. He said that the only solution to the anarchy currently prevailing in the country is elections."
Nationalist Democratic Movement (NDM) founder and chairman Bobby Hajjaj said that the chief advisor has assured that he will clarify the election date and process to the nation through an official briefing in the next few days. Bobby Hajjaj said, “He promised us in today’s meeting that he will present the election schedule and details to the nation in a few days.”
He also said, “We all expect a fair election. The chief advisor has also conveyed that expectation. We have applauded him. He said that the countrymen should prepare for the election from now on. In addition, political cooperation has been sought to curb the propaganda being spread about the law enforcement agencies.”
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Secretary General Maulana Manjurul Islam Afendi said, “The chief advisor has presented to us the current crisis in the country. He said, the unity should be maintained as we were united before August 5. So that no defeated force can take advantage.”
In addition to Mustafa Zaman Haider of the 12-party alliance, the meeting was attended by Aminul Haque Tipu Biswas of the National People's Front, Maulana Abdul Majed Athari of the Nejam-e-Islam Party, Maulana Yusuf Ashraf of the Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, Fariduzzaman Farhad of the NPP, Syed Ehsanul Huda of the National Party, Dr. Mushtaq Hossain of the Bangladesh Jasad, Bobby Hajjaj of the NDM, Shamim Haider of the Zaker Party, Mufti Sakhawat Hossain Razi of the Islami Oikya Jote, Rafiqul Islam Bablu of the Bhashani Janashakti Party, Mostafizur Rahman Iran of the Bangladesh Labor Party, Masud Rana of the BSD (Marxist) and Maulana Manjurul Islam Afendi of the Jamiat.
It is worth noting that earlier, the Chief Advisor held a meeting with the leaders of 13 political parties and alliances at the State Guest House Jamuna on Wednesday. The previous night, he also held a meeting with leaders of the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, NCP, and the Islamic Movement.
