BRTC's 'Eid Special Service' starts today

To make the journey of people heading home easy, safe and comfortable on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) has launched 'Eid Special Service' from Tuesday (June 3). This special bus service will run until June 14.
BRTC said that about 650 buses will run additionally outside the regular route during this Eid journey. Advance ticket sales have started from various depots since May 24 for the convenience of passengers.
This decision was taken at a meeting held at the BRTC head office in Motijheel in the capital on Monday (June 2). The meeting was presided over by the new chairman of BRTC, Abdul Latif Mollah. He said that like every year, special bus service has been launched on the occasion of Eid so that the people of the country can reach their respective destinations safely and at affordable fares.
He said that the buses will leave on time. Transporting additional passengers is completely prohibited and no more than the fare fixed by BRTA can be charged. All concerned have been instructed to pay maximum attention to passenger service.
The BRTC Chairman also said that so that no vehicle breaks down on the way during the Eid journey, a fitness test of each vehicle should be conducted the day before the journey and a clearance certificate should be issued. Strict instructions have been given to the technical department in this regard.
It was also informed in the meeting that it has been made mandatory to put stickers on each bus with the driver's name, mobile number, vehicle registration number and the control room number of the BRTC head office. Any problems or complaints of passengers can be reported directly to the control room.
To ensure passenger service and supervision, the control room will be open 24 hours a day in all depot units including the BRTC head office. Telephone number 02-41053042 and mobile number 01324293974 have been designated for communication.
The corporation's Director of Administration and Operation Md. Rahenul Islam, Director Technical Colonel Kazi Ayub Ali, General Manager, Deputy General Manager and other officials of the Operations Department. All depot heads from different regions of the country participated in the meeting through virtual video conference.
