DMP public notice: Meetings and gatherings banned around the Secretariat and Jamuna

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has banned all types of meetings and gatherings, mass gatherings, processions and processions in the important areas of the capital, the Secretariat and the official residence of the Chief Advisor on Jamuna. The ban was issued on Saturday, May 10, 2025, through a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali.
The DMP said that this decision has been taken in the interest of maintaining public order and ensuring the safety of the Chief Advisor. The ban has been implemented under the powers conferred by Section 29 of the Bangladesh Metropolitan Police Ordinance, 1976 (Ordinance No. III/76).
The ban will be in force from Saturday (May 10) until further orders. The public notice states that any kind of meeting, procession or procession is completely prohibited in the Bangladesh Secretariat, Jamuna and surrounding areas—such as Hotel Intercontinental intersection, Kakrail Mosque intersection, Officers Club intersection and Mintu Road areas.
The DMP authorities have urged everyone to follow these instructions, otherwise legal action will be taken, the notice also warns.
Warning to those concerned:
If this ban is violated, appropriate legal action will be taken against the concerned individual or group. Therefore, the law enforcement agencies have requested to refrain from organizing any kind of political, social or cultural gathering in the concerned areas.
