Candidates whose appointments for the posts of assistant teachers in government primary schools were cancelled by the High Court verdict have been protesting for the seventh consecutive day. They are still protesting in front of the National Museum in Shahbagh today.
On February 6, the High Court verdict cancelled the appointments of 6,531 people in Dhaka and Chittagong divisions. The court has ordered that new results should be published based on the latest verdict of the Appellate Division regarding quotas. "The Government Primary School Teachers Appointment Rules-2019 were followed in this appointment. But the court cancelled the appointment due to complications related to quotas."
The protesting job seekers say they will not leave Shahbagh until their demands are met. It remains to be seen what decision the government takes on the matter.
