TCB's truck loaded with goods arrived at Dhaka's Segunbagicha Raw Market on Monday afternoon. Men and women present rushed straight towards the TCB truck. Within some time, a queue of more than two hundred people formed, where only low-income people were supposed to be, but employees of private institutions, middle-class people, employees and people of various professions were seen standing in line. After the sale of goods started, it was learned that although there were products for 250 people, many of those standing in line will not get the products in the end.

After being closed for a month and 9 days recently, TCB's mobile product sales activities have resumed from Monday. Even before the month of Ramadan, people of different classes and professions are participating in the TCB product sales activities despite the government fixing the prices.

Farid Hossain, a job holder, said that he is standing here because it has become difficult to run a family due to the increase in the prices of goods in the market. Shakil Hossain, an employee of a private organization, said that soybean oil is sold at Tk 190 per liter, but it is available from TCB for only Tk 100.

However, many have complained that the beneficial purpose of these products is not being implemented. Nargis Akhter said that it is enough for one member of a family to buy the product, but many families are standing in line to buy the product together, which is reducing the opportunity for the truly needy to get the product. Some shopkeepers are also accused of taking advantage of this opportunity to buy the product and resell it.

TCB dealer Mustafa said that a consumer can buy a maximum of two edible oils, two kg lentils, one kg sugar, two kg chickpeas and 500 grams of dates. The total cost of this is Tk 588.

Meanwhile, although the truck sale program is being run at 50 places in the capital, the program has not started in some areas including Mohakhali, Press Club, Jatrabari.

This program has been taken as an important step to keep the market stable during the month of Ramadan.
