Dhaka, February 10: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has commented that the interim government is failing to show any signs of taking appropriate steps. He said that the government has not been able to take appropriate steps amid the current unstable situation in the country, rising commodity prices and deteriorating law and order.

After a meeting with Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus today, Mirza Fakhrul told reporters, "The government's main goal is to establish an elected government. For this, it is very important to establish political stability by organizing early elections."

He also said, "The government has failed to take effective steps to bring the fugitive dictators and their accomplices to justice even in six months. As a result, people are being encouraged to engage in illegal activities."

According to the BNP secretary general, the current government has failed to meet the aspirations and demands of the people. "People's optimism is fading fast and economic development is being hampered," he said.

Mirza Fakhrul added, "Social anarchy is spreading and the government must establish a government of the people's choice through necessary reforms and elections."

He demanded that a specific roadmap be announced soon and urged the government to take immediate action.
