BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said that there is no opportunity to reform outside the democratic process. He said that taking any other steps outside the elections may create doubts among the people.
He said these things at a discussion meeting organized at the National Press Club on Wednesday afternoon. The topic of the meeting was "BNP's role in the democratization and development of Bangladesh in the outside world."
Amir Khasru said that the Awami League took ownership of the country into its own hands by depriving the people of their voting rights. He emphasized that a fair election is needed immediately to return their ownership to the people.
He also said that division is not desirable for the success of the July-August movement. In this context, he mentioned that in addition to the 180 million people of the country, the diaspora also has an important role in the movement. Expatriates have played a role in the fall of fascism not only by sending remittances but also by stopping them.
Highlighting Tarique Rahman's role in leading the BNP movement, Amir Khasru said that the demands of expatriates will be properly evaluated in the future.
