The DB has arrested former UP Chairman Saidur Rahman Sujan on charges of openly indiscriminately firing at the student-mass movement against discrimination in Savar. There are 12 cases against him, including the controversial Yamin murder case. He went into hiding after August 5.

A team of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Intelligence Division conducted a raid on a flat in Uttara in the capital on Monday night based on a secret tip-off and arrested him.

Savar Model Police Station OC Jewel Mia confirmed the arrest on Tuesday morning.

Arrested Saidur Rahman Sujan is a Birulia Union Awami League leader and former chairman of Birulia Union Parishad.

Sujan was seen openly firing at students and crowds with weapons during the July-August Revolution along with Awami League leaders. In addition, there are multiple allegations against him even before the July Revolution for land grabbing and dominating the area.

Savar Model Police Station OC Jewel Mia said that there are a dozen murder cases against the arrested Saidur Rahman Sujan in Savar Model Police Station.

It is worth noting that Saidur Rahman Sujan was earlier arrested on September 30, 2020 in Kakabor area of ​​Birulia Union on charges of extortion. After hiding for a long time, DB police was able to arrest him.
