Interim government's Trade Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin has emphasized on ensuring proper implementation of Consumer Rights Protection Act. He said this at the 28th meeting of the National Consumer Rights Protection Council on Sunday morning.
He mentioned that increasing awareness about consumer rights is very important. If the right brochures are prepared and reached to the stakeholders, the attitude of protecting consumer rights will be developed in the society spontaneously. If consumers are aware of their rights, they will take the initiative to realize their rights.
The Trade Advisor further said, "We are all consumers in personal and family life. Proper implementation of the Consumer Rights Protection Act is necessary to ensure our protection."
Highlighting the responsibility of every individual in society, he said that issues related to consumer rights and ethics can be included in educational programs. Through this, it will be possible to make citizens aware of their responsibilities.
Also present at the meeting were Secretary (Routine Responsibilities) of the Ministry of Commerce Mohammad Navid Shafiullah, Director General of the Department of Consumer Rights Protection Md. Abdul Alim Khan, Administrator of FBCCI Md. Hafizur Rahman, General Secretary of CAB Md. Humayun Kabir Bhuiyan, Director General of BSTI S. M. Ferdous Alam and a representative of the Department of Drug Administration.
The speakers at the meeting discussed the steps to be taken to protect consumer rights and future plans.
