Stolen furnace oil recovered in Sirajganj, 5 arrested!

Seven days after the furnace oil looted from Munshiganj was recovered by the naval police from Chauhali in Sirajganj. A bulkhead was seized in the operation and five accused were arrested. The value of the recovered furnace oil is estimated to be around Tk 3 crore, according to the naval police.

The incident began in the early hours of January 10, when six employees of an oil tanker were taken hostage in the Dhaleshwari-Sheetlakshya estuary in Munshiganj and 350 tons of furnace oil were looted.

The arrested are Suman Sheikh (23) of Barguna's Sarak Gachiya village, Riaz Khan (22) of Khagbunia village, Mohammad Ferdous (22) of Lakurtala village, Islam Bepari (39) of Char Dhaleshwari village in Narayanganj and Amjad Hossain Topu (26).

Under the leadership of Additional Deputy Inspector General of Naval Police Alamgir Hossain, Tangail Naval Police Superintendent Sohel Rana, Chauhali Naval Police Outpost OC Arif Hossain and Munshiganj Police Station SI Imran Hasan participated in the operation.

Chauhali Naval Police Outpost OC Arif Hossain said that the robbers filled the Balubahi bulkhead with the looted furnace oil. Locals said that the bulkhead had been at the Bhuter More Naughat for two days.

After the operation, the bulkhead filled with 260 tons of furnace oil was recovered and 5 people were arrested.

The accused have been sent to the Dhaka head office of the Naval Police for further action in this regard.
