BNP has expressed dissatisfaction with some of the recent reform proposals. The party has objected to the report submitted by the four reform commissions of the interim government to the chief advisor on January 15, especially the recommendation to change the basic principles of the constitution.

The Constitutional Reform Commission has proposed to change the name of 'People's Republic of Bangladesh' to 'People's Democracy Bangladesh' and has recommended removing secularism, nationalism and socialism from the basic principles of state governance. BNP is reluctant to accept this proposal.

A BNP leader said that the party has no objection to the proposal for election-related reforms, but BNP will not accept changes to the basic principles of the constitution.

BNP says that the elections should not be delayed due to reforms. Party leaders believe that the main responsibility of the interim government is to establish a people's government.

BNP claims that reforms will continue, but the election process should also continue at the same time. The party has demanded national elections in July-August and called for an early announcement of the election date.
