Allegations of wrong treatment have been made public in the death of two patients at Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital in Kishoreganj. The nurse concerned has been withdrawn from duty in this incident and an order has been made to form an investigation committee.
Moniruzzaman Mallick (32), son of Falu Mia, and Zahirul (22), son of Abdul Qadir, were admitted to the medical college for treatment of hernia and abdominal pain. After the operation was prepared for them, nurse Nadira Begum injected the injection at around 7:30 am, but this injection process was supposed to be done in the operation theater as per the hospital's guidelines. Due to this, the two died.
Relatives went to the hospital to cry after hearing the news of their deaths and later protested. They demanded the maximum punishment for the concerned nurse.
Hospital Director (Acting) Dr. Helish Ranjan Sarkar admitted the wrong treatment incident and ordered the formation of an investigation committee in this regard. He also appealed for the maximum punishment for the nurse concerned.
