8 students involved in the killing of youth in Ganpitni were expelled from DU

8 students involved in the thrashing of a young man suspected of being a thief in Dhaka University's Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall have been temporarily expelled from the university. The university administration also canceled the seats allotted to them.
The university administration temporarily expelled them on Saturday (September 21). Proctor of the university confirmed the matter to Morenews at noon. Saifuddin Ahmed. Earlier on Friday (September 20) their seats were cancelled.
The students who were temporarily expelled and whose seats were canceled are - Md. of Nutrition and Food Science Institute. Mottakin Sakin Shah, Jalal Miah of Physics Department, Suman Miah of Soil Water and Environment Department, Al Hossain Sajjad of Geography and Environment Department, Ahsan Ullah of Mathematics Department, Wajibul Alam of Oceanography Department, Firoz Kabir of Botany Department and Abdus Samad of Physics Department.
Apart from Feroz Kabir of the Department of Botany and Abdus Samad of the Department of Physics, the law and order forces have already arrested six of them.
Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed said that 8 students found to be involved in the murder have been temporarily expelled in addition to canceling their seats in the hall. An inquiry committee will be formed today or tomorrow. The report of the committee will go to the Syndicate and according to the report a permanent decision will be taken against them.
Incidentally, on September 18, a group of students tortured a man named Tofazzal Hossain in Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall of the university on suspicion of being a thief. Later, when he was taken to the hospital, the doctor in charge declared him dead. His house is in Kanthaltali union of Patharghata upazila of Barguna district of Barisal. For several years, Tofajjal was in a state of mental instability. Before this he was the President of Kanthaltali Union Chhatra League.
