Election Commission (EC) Secretary Shafiul Azim has asked for district-wise information on National Identity Card (NID) revision. Basically, the secretary has asked for this information to reduce the suffering of the public in the amendment application of NID.
Recently, NID Division Assistant Programmer Aminul Islam has already sent the instructions to the Regional Election Officers.
It is mentioned that the Secretary has directed the Regional Election Officers to send category-wise information regarding NID revision of all the districts under his jurisdiction. In this case, he has fixed the time till next Tuesday (September 24).
According to EC sources, many amendment applications are pending for months. Many applications are left uncategorized. And if it is not put in the category, there is no progress of the respective application on the server. As a result, the application of many people became motionless at the beginning. This decision has been taken as the matter has come under the notice of EC Secretary Shafiul Azim. In this case, information has been sought about how many applications are pending in any category in which office of the officials. And he ordered the regional election officials to send the information.
According to the instructions, the number of applications less than one month, the number of applications more than one month but less than three months, the number of applications three months or more but less than six months and the number of applications six months or more than six months are pending. District wise information should be sent accordingly.
Officials said that after analyzing this information, it will be understood how sincerely an officer is providing the citizen service. Further action will be taken accordingly.
It is known that only 30 thousand 386 applications of category A are Sent Back to Citizen and 17 thousand 437 applications of Additional Document Required are incomplete. All these applications have remained pending since 2011 and for a long time thereafter.
