The leading industrial group Bashundhara Group is accused of illegally occupying a total of 1,16 acres of Bhawal Raj Estate along with Khas, Nala, Nadi and Bhawal Raj Estate in the Bashundhara residential area.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Police has decided to investigate money laundering against Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan Shah Alam and Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anveer. The CID announced the decision in a press release on Thursday (September 5).
According to the press release, it is known from various sources that some of the proposed land of Bashundhara residential project has the approval of RAJUK, but most of it is public and government property such as canal, bill, river, Khas land, waste land, graveyard, slaughter ground etc. without the approval of RAJUK. Filled and implemented the project. In the case of Bashundhara Riverview housing project, there are allegations of taking hundreds of crores of rupees through the sale of plots from the public and the rich people of the society by illegally occupying and filling the land without the approval of Rajuk.
East West Properties Limited has been accused of encroaching large amount of land in various blocks of Bashundhara residential area, estimated to be worth more than one and a half lakh crore rupees. Bashundhara group resorted to various types of fraud and fraud to take possession of these lands. The Bashundhara Group has been accused of illegally occupying a total of 1,16 acres of land including 800 acres (2,400 bighas) of the government including khas, nalas, rivers and 216 acres of Bhawal Raj Estate in Bashundhara residential area.
