Finally, the illegal shops were locked on charges of cheating with passengers bound for India

Police have locked up 8 illegal shops without signboards accused of cheating Indian passport holders at Benapole port. Besides, 4 more shop owners have been warned.
These shops located at the Benapole port check post were locked at noon on Tuesday (September 3).
Police and locals said that most passport holders travel to India through Benapole port for various purposes including medical business. When these passengers enter the port with passports from different parts of the country, a group of robbers sit in rooms without signboards in various local markets asking to cut passport forms or travel trucks under different identities.
Later, through various deceptions, sometimes by showing fear, they took the money with them. However, even though there were security forces of various organizations, they did not play any role in the resistance.
Finally last Monday (September 2) the fraudsters snatched 2 lakh taka from 8 passport holders from the passenger terminal of the port. After the reports were published in various newspapers, finally the police raided and locked 8 illegal shops used by the robbers.
