Doctors have announced a complete shutdown across the country to demand justice and security of those involved in the beating and assault of doctors at Dhaka Medical College (Dhamek) Hospital. They announced this on Sunday (September 1) afternoon.
The two demands of the doctors are that those involved should be arrested within 24 hours and security should be ensured. Doctors of DMK said that the authorities have failed to accept both these demands. They said that the program will be briefed after 2 pm.
Earlier, the doctors of Dhaka Medical College (Dhamek) Hospital stopped medical services since morning, citing insecurity and demanding justice for the attack.
Yesterday (August 31) some unidentified youths beat up three doctors of the neurosurgery department in connection with the death of a patient while undergoing treatment. In this incident, the doctors identified the culprits after seeing the CCTV footage and gave an ultimatum to arrest them. Otherwise they announced that they will go on strike after 24 hours.
But the doctors went on strike before the ultimatum expired.
