The High Court has ordered not to collect toll from ambulances carrying patients on roads, highways, bridges and flyovers across the country.
Today (Monday) Justice Sheikh Hasan Arif and Justice Md. The High Court bench of Bazlur Rahman gave this order. Advocate Md heard on behalf of the writ in the court. Monir Uddin
Earlier, the lawyer had appealed not to collect toll from ambulances on roads, highways, bridges, flyover tunnels, ferries and expressways. He filed a writ as he did not get a response to that application.
According to the petition, stopping the ambulance and collecting toll from the toll plaza is inhumane and a crime against humanity for this modern civilized society. Every second is very important for a sick patient. But due to the time wasted in collecting the toll at the toll plaza, the patient dies before being taken to the hospital. The patient died before the ambulance reached the patient after getting stuck in the toll plaza.
However, the Ministry of Health is spending thousands of crores of rupees in hospitals to protect the health of citizens and save lives. Therefore charging toll from ambulances is against the objective of the Ministry of Health. People's lives, money and health are being lost due to wrong decisions alone.
