Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled to India last Monday in the face of public protests. India's Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said that Sheikh Hasina came here after talking about a 'short-term' stay. But even after two days, Hasina still remains in India.

Sheikh Hasina is seeking asylum in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Finland, the country's influential media outlet The Hindu reported on Tuesday.
The Hindu also reported that Sheikh Hasina has formally applied for political asylum in the UK. But there is no possibility of him getting shelter there. However, Hasina's sister Sheikh Rehana is a citizen of the UK and her daughter Tulip Siddique is a member of parliament and a junior minister in the ruling party there.
On the contrary, the current government of the United Kingdom may press for an international investigation against Hasina, said a government official of the country.
Hasina's next destination in Europe may be Finland's capital Helenski. Sheikh Rehana's son Redwan Mujeeb Siddique Bobby lives there.
The office of Finnish Prime Minister Alexander Stubb asked whether Sheikh Hasina can apply for political asylum in Finland. However, the country's Prime Minister's Office did not comment on this.

Indian media The Hindu also reported that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina applied for a US visa after fleeing Bangladesh. But it was rejected. But his passport already had a US visa affixed. But it was canceled after he fled the country. The United States informed that since Hasina has resigned from the post of Prime Minister, her visa is no longer valid.
Sheikh Hasina's son Sajib Wazed Joy lives in Virginia, USA. If Hasina could have gone to the country, she would have stayed at Sajeeb's house.
The Hindu report further informed that if Sheikh Hasina stays in India for a long time then it will be embarrassing for India. Because the new government of Bangladesh may want Sheikh Hasina back to face justice.
It is for this reason that India did not grant asylum to former Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and former President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani.
