A young woman has come under fire for raising derogatory slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and her late mother during a student protest at Jantar Mantar in the Indian capital Delhi. However, after creating controversy, a video of the young woman has gone viral on social media, in which she is seen expressing regret for her mistake with folded hands. She claimed that she did this out of emotion after being incited by some people at the protest site.
In the video message that has gone viral online, the young woman wearing a striped T-shirt is seen in a very embarrassed state. Although her age is mentioned in the complaint, she claims to be a 15-year-old minor in the video and says, "What I have done is unforgivable. This is the first and last mistake of my life, I am ashamed and apologize to the entire country." However, the relevant media confirmed that the authenticity of the video could not be independently verified.
Meanwhile, a few days before the video of the young woman went public, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a message to the countrymen on social media to forget their anger and forgive. In his message, Modi said that it is normal to make mistakes in childhood or adolescence and instead of punishment or legal harassment, these young people should be shown the right path by being held accountable. He also announced that he would personally forgive the young people and commented that abusive language is not a solution to any problem.
It is worth noting that a case was filed against the young woman under the sections of breach of public peace and defamation for making objectionable comments against the Prime Minister during the student protest organized at Jantar Mantar on July 23. Initially, a 'zero FIR' was filed at a police station in Noida, but later it was transferred to Delhi's Parliament Street police station for investigation. After that, the Prime Minister's generous stance and the video of the accused young woman apologizing came to the fore.
