Israel agrees to ceasefire on condition that Hezbollah stops attacks

The US State Department has said that there has been new progress in the implementation of the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel. However, the agreement will take effect upon the fulfillment of certain conditions.
The Washington statement said that Israel has agreed to a ceasefire framework, but one of its main conditions is that the Iranian-backed armed group Hezbollah must completely stop all attacks against Israel.
Tensions between the two sides have increased again in recent days due to Israeli air strikes in southern Lebanon and Hezbollah's rocket attacks in response. This has created a situation where the previous ceasefire has practically collapsed.
According to the proposal of the agreement, Hezbollah fighters will be withdrawn from the area from the Litani River in southern Lebanon to the Israeli border. In addition, there is a plan to give sole control to the Lebanese army in the area.
In addition, there has been talk of establishing some “pilot zones” with US assistance, where no armed groups will be present.
The two sides are scheduled to hold new talks on a full agreement on June 22. However, Hezbollah has not yet made any official response to this issue.
